Just when you thought the 2012 Merlot was good, along comes the 2013. The weather was warm and dry in 2013 helping to produce an even size grape cluster with intense fruit flavors. Great balance of tannin from the stems and French oak barrels enhancing the red and black berry profile of tastes. Fun to see how this evolves. But caution...don't need to wait.

The 2011 vintage was a tough year with a cooler end to the vintage and late rains. Thankfully the Cabernet grape skins are a little thicker than most varietals are were able to hang long enough to reach the proper ripeness. The 2011 Cabernet was overlooked until just a few months ago. But WOW...it was worth the wait. Aged like all previous red wines in French oak for 18-20 months, the wine is showing that a little stress in the growing season can make for great wines. Every Cabernet profile taste is in this wine but not your over done BIG red. Don't hesitate getting this wine before the Family drinks it all up.

This Cabernet is our second bottling after the 2010 Cabernet Franc. The wine was crushed and fermented in stainless tanks and allowed to go through its second fermentation before being racked off into neutral oak barrels. Using basically no oak before bottling it retains all it's natural flavors unmasked by wood. A style that we may go to in the future. Called the 'Father" of Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is terrific now for those wanting "un-blended" excellence. It is 100% joy."
