The 2012 Kimmel Chardonnay comes from all-estate fruit of 30-year old vines selected from our Middle Block. Aged in both new- and used-French oak for nine months. With balance as a goal, the wine begins with the scent of Meyer lemon, honeysuckle, ripe melon, baked pear with hints of dried ginger, crème fraiche and apple blossom. The palate gives way to a saline quality of sea spray, oyster shells, dried ginger, almond, and hazelnut leading to a long finish.
Update July 2017....only have about 2 cases left. The 2012 is drinking as a very well aged old French white Burgundy. The wine has softened from its release but will be enjoyed by those wanting a "fine" old Chardonnay.
